Black Forest Inn ~ Saturday July 23, 2005

Well Bob & Grace pulled off another terrific event!  Three cheers for our leaders!  Although this event was billed as a "Mini" car show, there was nothing mini about it - we had eleven Classics and 25 antiques on display. The weather was terrific and the food was great - but the friends, old and new, made the day special.  The Metro Region was kind enough to invite the Raritan River Region of the Cadillac-LaSalle Club and the Citroen Traction Avant Club, too.

After gazing at beautiful cars from 11:30 until 1pm, we strolled inside the Black Forest Inn for a delicious buffet lunch, with German and non-German delicacies.  The restaurant and parking lot were reserved solely for our use.

But the main event was the awards ceremony hosted by Bob & Grace.  Their humor (some of it unintentional!) had the crowd in stitches.  (Yes, we all now know, that there were SEVEN trophies in the box delivered to Bob & Grace.  Not Six.  Not Eight.  Seven.  You get the idea of how the awards ceremony went...)

Well one thing was certainly clear by the end of the afternoon - everyone had a great time, and we are all looking forward to repeating this event next year.  If anyone can pull it off, we know Bob & Grace can.

Did you attend the show?  If you would like to send the Webmaster a brief note about this fun time, for posting here, please feel free to send it! You'll also notice one thing about the photos below - lots of cars - hardly any people.  If you have any pictures, e-mail them, too, to the Webmaster!

Every car on display was worthy of a trophy.  The classics and antiques looked especially terrific in the July sunshine.  However, this being a democracy, the votes were cast and judiciously tabulated by the "legitimate" car-voting-tabulation firm of Price, Waterhouse & Cooney.  Thanks to Metro member BOB TURNQUIST for the donation of antique Metro trophies.  The winners are....
