In the city of Boston, history
speaks from every street corner. Paul Revere looks down from his
perch outside the Old North Church - the Freedom Trail is painted on the
sidewalk so the adventurous tourist can follow the path of history at a
leisurely pace. Red Sox banners fly, with a Yankee "NY" nowhere in
sight. Curse of The Bambino? What's that?
At down by Boston Harbor, in the
World Trade Center, the Metro Region and CCCA made a little history, too.
While the cars were the stars of the show, the Metro Region was honored to
receive numerous awards for contributions toward the goals of the CCCA.
And the most prestigious award of the weekend is coming home to Metro.
Breaking with tradition, let's save the best for last

Thursday night's dinner, The
Salute To The Regions, was held at the Harvard Club. This
two-story, wood paneled room was flanked by tremendous stone fireplaces at
either end. The soft lighting illuminated the numerous antique
tapestries on the walls. This night, the achievements of the regions
were recognized. Metro was honored to be presented with three
distinguished awards: |
| 3rd
Place - Region Publications - To JIM KIDD,
Editor of The Metropolitan Skyline |
| 2nd
Place - Non Printed Publications - To PAT CARUSO,
Webmaster of MetroCCCA.ORG |

And after all the regional awards
were presented, CCCA Awards Chairman, Bob Joynt, stepped to the
microphone, again. This year a new CCCA Award was being presented.
The Cantore Family Award was established by the Cantore family to
recognize the Outstanding Regional Director, who in the opinion of the
National Board of Directors of the Club, deserves special recognition for
that person's contributions to the Club and its members. Bob Joynt
noted that this award was "being presented to a special husband and wife
team who have dedicated themselves to their region. In three short
years they energized a region into one of the
strongest and most active in the club." |

Hip-Hip-Hooray for Metro's
Bobbie'dine Rodda !! |
|
Well, actually, Bobbie'dine is a member of EVERY CCCA
region in the country, so we all can take great pride in claiming her as
our own.
Bobbie'dine is the
well-deserved recipient of the 2005 Classic Spirit Award
Before he presented the award, Award Sponsor George
Holman asked the crowd "How many of you have ever received a note or
photo from Bobbie'dine after a CCCA event?" Just about every
hand in the room went up - followed by a round of laughter. You see,
Bobbie'dine is an avid photographer, and a generous one, too - she'll
always send you photos, to remind you of the great time you had. Is
it any wonder she received the Classic Spirit Award? |

by George Holman, New England Region: The inspiration for the Classic Spirit Award was the
friendly, cheerful, and enthusiastic personality of Mary Jeane Holman.
Endowed by the New England Region, the award recognizes CCCA members who
exhibit this unique spirit for which Mary Jeane was so well known.
