The
Delaware Valley Region of the Classic Car Club of America
invites you to join us for
a lovely, long weekend in
Cape May, NJ
on
Sept 24- 27, 2009
(Thursday afternoon until Sunday morning). We used to have CCCA weekend
events there during the 60's and 70's, with people coming from as far as
Connecticut and Virginia, and many having such fond memories of it
that many have requested we do it again! We have been lucky to find a
place with not only an
ocean view,
but a huge parking lot for our cars and trailers. The
Atlas Inn
also has a restaurant on premises, where we'll start each day with
breakfast by the sea. They also have a pool, and our hospitality
suite opens onto a large oceanfront deck.
Cape May is known for its historic Victorian homes, beautiful beaches, and
other natural attractions. September is one of the best times to be there.
The weather is mild, and the summer crowds gone, but there are plenty of
interesting things to see and do as you explore the cape. Thursday evening
will be a time to renew friendships, share refreshments and chat about
cars in our hospitality suite at the Atlas Inn. |

|

The Emlen Physick Estate is Cape May's only
Victorian House Museum. The town's history and architecture make it a
leading tourist destination.
 |
On
Friday,
join us and experience a bit of American history
as we set out on a private group tour of Cape May's Historic district via
trolley and learn about the life and times of the
American Victorian era with a narrated tour of the 1879 Physick
Estate.
And
Friday lunch at Cape May's renowned Washington Inn,
famous for its fabulous food and attention to detail, has been arranged
(at a very attractive group rate, I might add). Friday night Dinner will
be at the oceanfront Bloody Mary's Bar and Grill, back at
our host hotel, the Atlas Inn. (see them at
www.atlasinn.com).
Saturday
is a free day
with endless possibilities. Options include:
 |
A driving tour of Cape May Point (the southernmost tip
of New Jersey) with its 1859 era Lighthouse and the
recently renovated WWII fire-control tower, where
you'll learn about the technology that protected our shores from Nazi
invaders (yes, there really were U boats in the waters just off Cape
May). |
 |
Or drive 5 miles to the NAS Wildwood Aviation museum,
dedicated to the 42 WWII Navy airmen who lost their lives in dive-bomber
training in 1943-45, and see the collection of vintage aircraft. |
 |
We are also planning a road trip out to the Plumbo Buckley
Antique Car Foundation & Museum, (limited to the first 25 cars
signed up) with a coffee and donut reception from 2:00-4:30PM! |
Other things here? Strolling the seaside promenade or browsing the shops
and restaurants of the open-air Washington Street Mall, located in the
heart of Cape May's Historic District. (a fine art show is there on that
weekend)...or just relaxing on the beach in front of the hotel. Saturday
evening, we're planning a poolside BBQ dinner back at the hotel.
In
addition, we'll have other options available to round out the
weekend, like the CMC Zoo, Tea & Tour at a Victorian Mansion on Saturday,
golf, and the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse and Gardens in nearby North
Wildwood. |
| |
|
We'll be sending a more formal invitation with additional details and
prices, but wanted to get this to you so you can
mark the dates on your calendar
and make plans to join us in Cape May!
Your Hosts, Howard &
Gail Schaevitz!
