Our Featured Metro Full Classic(R) is the

1940 Cadillac Executive Custom of BOB & SHEILA JOYNT.

The car is a very fine, unrestored original which is a one-off built for Lawrence Fisher.  Mr. Fisher was President of Cadillac from 1925-1934, a Fisher brother and a GM Board member.  He received this car as a bonus in 1940 and liked it so much, he kept it until the mid 1950’s.  There were a total of 10 Executive Custom 60 Specials built for top GM Executives between 1938 and 1941, none of which were the same.  They were actually built by GM Styling in a secure area in the basement of the GM Building in Detroit.

This particular car is chopped 2 inches and lengthened 6 inches with both the front and rear doors extended.  It is believed that the carriage leather formal roof was installed to cover all the lead and welding involved in lowering the roof line.  The build sheet is fascinating as it includes an entire page addendum of changes to the car and then notes at the bottom “NO CHARGE!

Harry I. Miller of Boston was the 3rd owner of the car from the early 1960’s to 1974 when he sold it for $5,000 to a fellow CCCA member in Indiana.  He in turn sold it to Wally Rank of Milwaukee in 1975 who had a large collection of Classics.  Bob & Sheila purchased the car in 2000 from Wally’s estate.  It’s a wonderful car to drive and an important example of Cadillac history.
